FEnanoMENOS

+QFEnanoMENOS, the school fair organised by the Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA, CSIC–University of Zaragoza), takes place tomorrow, 28 April, further consolidating its position as a national benchmark in the school education sector.

More than 2,000 secondary school (ESO) and Special Education students have taken part in the initiative during the current academic year, and the finalist projects will compete at the Fair held at Mobility City, organised by Fundación Ibercaja.

The +QFEnanoMENOS project is also supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) – Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

Zaragoza, 27 April 2026. The countdown has begun for the Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA) — a joint institute of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Zaragoza — to reveal the names of the winning projects of this eleventh edition of +QFeNANOmenos, the School Fair of Nanoscience which each year attracts a growing number of educational centres from across Spain.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 28 April, nanoscience will once again take centre stage at Mobility City of Fundación Ibercaja thanks to +QFeNANOmenos, the only school fair in Spain focused exclusively on nanoscale science. Students from all over the country take part in this initiative, which also benefits from the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) – Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, as well as Mobility City and Fundación Ibercaja.

The competition will begin on 28 April at 10:00 a.m. at the Pabellón Puente (Lucas Miret Square), when students will present their finalist projects.

Throughout the morning, ESO and Special Education students will showcase to the public the projects they have been developing throughout the academic year, aiming to address current challenges in nanoscience.

Among the finalist projects are initiatives such as “Defying Alzheimer’s”, “CO₂: from pollutant to tool”, and the “use of PDMs for ocean clean-up”. These projects will compete for prizes of €350 and €150 in school supplies per category (ESO and Special Education).

All these teams have already passed a previous selection stage and, on 18 March, took part in a communication training session at the Aragon Government Open Laboratory (LAAAB) to improve the presentation of their projects.

The event will be officially opened at 10:00 a.m. with a welcome address to the students by the Director of INMA, Elena Gálvez; representatives of the Government of Aragon; and the Institutional Delegate of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Aragon, María Jesús Lázaro Elorri. Jesús Gómez Gardeñes, representing the Vice-Rectorate for Innovation of the University of Zaragoza, will also be in attendance. At 1:00 p.m., the final awards ceremony will take place, during which the jury will announce the winning projects.

+QFEnanoMENOS XI returns to a landmark venue

For the second consecutive year, the fair is being held at a landmark venue: Mobility City of Fundación Ibercaja. Mobility City is an innovative initiative promoted by Fundación Ibercaja in collaboration with the Government of Aragon, aimed at becoming an international reference point for sustainable, intelligent and connected mobility.

The space is located on the iconic Zaha Hadid Bridge in Zaragoza, a singular and unique architectural landmark originally designed for the 2008 International Expo. Following a process of refurbishment, the bridge has been transformed into the first 21st-century Technological Mobility Museum, which in this edition will coexist with nanoscience as a result of this renewed collaboration with INMA.

VII ARAGON NANOTECHNOLOGY GALA

As in previous editions, the winners of +QFEnanoMENOS XI will also have the opportunity to participate in the VII Aragon Nanotechnology Gala, organised by the SAMCA Chair of Nanotechnology at the University of Zaragoza. The event will take place on the afternoon of 4 June at CaixaForum Zaragoza.
The aim of this initiative is to provide greater visibility for the projects, generate additional recognition, and connect participants with society in a recreational setting open to collaboration with audiences of all kinds.
