Course of Introduction to Laboratory Safety -SegurINMA

At the Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA), CSIC-University of Zaragoza, we advocate continuous improvement in Preventive Action and we believe that this can only be achieved through information, consultation and participation. Within this framework, the Course of Introduction to Laboratory Safety, “SegurINMA”, is being developed.

The safety course must be taken by all INMA members (new entrants), as well as by visitors and students wishing to access our facilities.

The course is divided into three modules: Chemical Risks, Biological Risks and Physical Risks. These theoretical modules are complemented by a visit to the facilities and a performance test.

The course aims to provide the basic general information necessary to move around the Institute’s laboratories safely, identifying and locating the main risks, but does not replace the specific training for each specific job.

In order to access the course, you must first complete this form. Once you have completed the form, you will receive instructions on how to register for the course.

The course is developed on-line through the Moodle Platform (Moodle-ADDUnizar) and consists of theoretical part and a visit to the facilities.

COURSE DETAILS:

  • The course can be taken completely on-line with no time limit.
  • Theoretical part: consists of three modules: Physical Risk, Chemical Risk and Biological Risk. Each module has a separate test that must be passed separately. To pass, it is necessary to answer at least 75% of the exam questions correctly.
  • Visit: After passing the theoretical part, you will receive the invitation to visit the facilities of the building where you will be working.

IMPORTANT:

—- Users of the Edificio I+D+i and/or CIRCE:
To gain independent access to the R+D+i Building and/or CIRCE of the Ebro River Campus, you must have passed the exams corresponding to the three modules of which this security course consists. And you must have attended the guided tour in the R+D+i Building, once you have passed the exams.

—- TFE (End-of-Studies Projects) Directors:
The TFE’s Directors, at the moment of elaborating the document “TFE Proposal”, will include in the section dedicated to activities or methodology up to a maximum of 10 hours for the realization of the safety course in research laboratories.
Check here an example: Annex I TFEs example.
