Great news for everyone who believes in the value of science outreach to society: Agencia de Nanocrític@s: The Game, one of INMA’s (CSIC–Universidad de Zaragoza) outreach projects, has been selected by FECYT to form part of the catalogue “Excellence and Innovation in Science Communication” (“La excelencia y la innovación en la divulgación científica”), 2026 edition.
The selection is particularly significant: 639 proposals were submitted to the call, of which 204 were selected to receive funding. Of these, FECYT has chosen just 13 initiatives for this catalogue for standing out in terms of their objectives, impact, originality, formats, target audiences or social value.
Our project turns pupils into genuine researchers. Through gamified challenges and experiences, such as educational Escape Rooms, participants learn to apply the scientific method, analyse evidence, cross-check sources and distinguish reliable information from hoaxes and pseudoscience.
The activities are also adapted to different educational levels, including Special Education, so that critical thinking and scientific culture reach all pupils.
Because communicating science also means teaching people to question, cross-check, reason and make evidence-based decisions.
Nanocríticos’ inclusion in this selection is a recognition of the team’s work and of an approach to science communication that aims not only to teach young people science, but to teach them to think scientifically.
👏 Congratulations to the whole Nanocríticos team, and especially to our colleague Irene Lucas, tireless champion and coordinator of the project!
