This Thursday, new Hi Score Science tournament -Dare to participate!
The third game of the Hi Score Science scientific league will start on Thursday. An outreach project created by two research institutes, tnstituto de Síntesis Química y Catálisis Homogénea, ISQCH, y el Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón, INMA, both joint centres of the CSIC and the University of Zaragoza, based on the development of a free video game in Spanish and English, for mobile devices, PC, Mac and Linux that seeks to satisfy the scientific curiosity with which we are all born and that leads us to ask ourselves why things happen.
Hi Score Science is a quiz game that aims to go further than traditional games by involving users in scientific development and including informative explanations of the reality behind each answer.
The project has two modes of participation. The first allows users to take part in the development of the scientific content of the video game. To do so, users can submit their questions which, after review by a scientific committee, will be published in the game. The other mode allows users to demonstrate their scientific knowledge and compete with other users from anywhere in the world.
To encourage participation, several tournaments have been created at regional and national level with different categories: Senior (over 18 years old), General (Secondary) and Junior (primary) that will reward the winners with trophies, certificates, gifts and scientific visits.
In addition, next Thursday 30 November will see the start of the third game of the V National Absolute On-line League, in which any user of any age and education can participate and which will have a monthly on-line tournament until June. To participate in the league, simply download the Hi Score Science game from the Play Store and Apple Store and on PC, Mac and Linux (www.HiScoreScience.org) and play, with username and password, in multiplayer-online-tournament mode – “Curie”. Users of all ages, backgrounds and locations in Spain can compete online in the tournament.
Each of the league matches has specific prizes, so it is not necessary to have played in the first tournament to participate in the second. The first three finishers will receive a winner’s medal. In addition, the top 10 will receive a certificate and all participants will receive points for the annual league.
The first three finishers of the second match were: Juan Luis Pueyo Sánchez, Beatriz Feringán and Ángel Madurga Artal.
All the information about the project and the rules of the different tournaments are available on the project’s website www.HiScoreScience.org
The project has the collaboration of the Deputy Vice-Presidency of Scientific Culture of the CSIC (VACC), as well as with the project Científicas CASIO, mira Editores and the museums: Nacional de Ciencias Naturales de Madrid, Instituto Geológico y Geominero de España, Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnología, Museo Eureka, Casa de la Ciencia de Sevilla, CIUTAT DE LES ARTS I LES CIÈNCIES, Casa de la Ciencia de Valencia, Ciencias Naturales de la Universidad de Zaragoza and the Planetario de Aragón, the Universidad de Cantabria, the Universidad de Alcalá, as well as the town councils of small towns such as Benasque and the Comarca de Calatayud.
