José María de Teresa, INMA researcher, joins the European Academy of Sciences
José María de Teresa, CSIC research professor at the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon, INMA, a joint institute of CSIC and the University of Zaragoza, has been named Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc). With this distinction, EurASc aims to recognize José María de Teresa as one of the best European scientists in the area of materials science, in addition to promoting a social and economic development of Europe based on knowledge.
EurASc is an international association of distinguished academics, based in Brussels and fully independent, which among its objectives seeks to strengthen European science and scientific cooperation and to take advantage of the expertise of its members in advising other European bodies for the improvement of European research, technological application and social development, playing a complementary role to that of the European national academies.
Prof. José María De Teresa leads the Nanofabrication and Advanced Microscopy (NANOMIDAS) group at the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA, CSIC-University of Zaragoza), is coordinator of the Spanish Nanolithography network (NANOLITO) and of the FIB-SEM area at the Advanced Microscopy Laboratory (University of Zaragoza) and President of the Condensed Matter Division of the European Physical Society. His main research interests are focused electron and ion beam nanofabrication, magnetic nanostructures, nano-superconductivity and quantum technologies. He has published more than 230 research papers that have been cited 11000 times (h-factor=52) and has given more than 100 invited lectures. He has supervised 18 PhD theses (5 of them currently in progress) and is a distinguished member of the American Physical Society (2021) and the European Physical Society (2023).
The awards will be presented at the next annual meeting of the society, which will be held at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences on October 29-30, 2024, and will focus on the theme “Science for Sustainability”.
