FenanoMENOS celebra su décimo aniversario despertando vocaciones científicas en escolares de toda España

FENANOMENOS CELEBRATES ITS TENTH ANNIVERSARY AWAKENING SCIENTIFIC VOCATIONS IN SCHOOLCHILDREN ALL OVER SPAIN

. FEnanoMENOS, the school fair of the Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA), a joint centre of the Spanish National Research Council and the University of Zaragoza, has become a national benchmark in the school environment
. More than 2. 000 ESO and Special Education students have participated in the initiative during this school year, and the finalist projects compete in the Fair to be held tomorrow at the Mobility City, of the Ibercaja Foundation
. The FeNANOmenos project also has the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) – Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

Zaragoza, 14 May 2025. Tomorrow, 15 May, nanoscience is coming to the Ibercaja Foundation’s Mobility City with a bang thanks to FeNANOmenos, the only national school fair focused on the enormous advances made in research with nanoparticles and nanomaterials. This is the tenth edition of this event, organised by the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon, INMA (a joint centre of the Higher Council for Scientific Research CSIC and the University of Zaragoza) and with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) – Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and Mobility City and the Ibercaja Foundation.

From 10.00 a.m. on 15 May, Mobitiy City (Plaza Lucas Miret s/n) will be the place where the finalist projects of the students participating in FeNANOmenos can be visited. A morning in which the students of ESO and Special Education will present to the public the projects they have been working on during the school year and with which they have wanted to investigate and respond to how nanoscience impacts and changes our daily lives.

The projects will compete for a prize worth €300 in school material in each category (ESO and Special Education) and a second prize worth €150 also in each category.

How to solve a current problem thanks to nanoscience was the question that the finalist schools from different provinces such as Navarra, Madrid, Seville, Valencia, Huesca, Teruel and Zaragoza answered in the best possible way.

Precisely, one of the consequences of this fair is that it has managed to awaken scientific vocations over the years, and in this year’s edition a space has been prepared called ‘The reunion’, in which the organisers and some of the young talents who presented themselves in previous editions will take part.

FEnanoMENOS X, tenth anniversary on a luxury stage

The day will open at 10 a.m. on Thursday 15 May. Afterwards, at 13:00, the final gala will be held where the jury will announce the winning projects.

The celebration of this tenth anniversary takes place in a luxurious setting: the Mobility City of Fundación Ibercaja. Mobiltiy City is an innovative initiative of Fundación Ibercaja, in collaboration with the Government of Aragon, which aims to become an international benchmark in sustainable, intelligent and connected mobility. This space is located in the emblematic Zaha Hadid Bridge in Zaragoza, a singular and unique architectural work designed for the 2008 International Exposition. After a refurbishment process, the bridge has been transformed into the first Technological Museum of Mobility of the 21st century, which in this edition will coexist with Nanoscience, the result of this collaboration with the INMA.

VI NANOTECHNOLOGY GALA OF ARAGON

As in previous years, this year the winners of FEnanoMENOS will also participate in the 6th Aragon Nanotechnology Gala organised by the SAMCA Nanotechnology Chair of the University of Zaragoza. The event will take place on the afternoon of 27 June at CaixaForum Zaragoza.

The purpose is to offer an opportunity to give visibility to the project, generate additional recognition and connect participants with society in a playful context and open to the general collaboration of all types of public. On the occasion of the celebration of the gala, a series of activities aimed at a family audience have been designed and will be held prior to the gala.
