The Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón celebrates the sixth edition of the school nanoscience fair FEnanoMENOS
The  Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón , INMA, a joint centre of the CSIC and the University of Zaragoza, in its work of dissemination and promotion of scientific culture in the field of nanoscience, announces the celebration of the sixth edition of the Nanoscience Fair for schoolchildren in Aragon. This is the main activity of the outreach project FEnanoMENOS, organized by the INMA in collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
The fair, which will take place on Thursday 3 June 2021, will be held virtually and will be broadcast live (via streaming) from the YouTube channel of INMA. During the celebration, awards will be presented to the best proposals submitted by the participating teams, two for each category, Compulsory Secondary Education and Special Education, in addition to the mention to the video with more views. In addition, representatives of each competing team will participate live in the gala via the Zoom platform.
Esther Borao Moros, General Director of the Technological Institute of Aragon ITAINNOVA of the Government of Aragon, Rosa María Bolea Bailo, Vice-Rector of Science Policy of the University of Zaragoza, Conrado Rillo Millán, Director of the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon and Ricardo Ibarra, principal investigator of the FEnanoMENOS project will participate in the fair.
The aim of this Fair is to bring secondary and special education students closer to nanoscience, introducing them to the principles of this unknown and emerging discipline in an attempt to encourage their vocation for science and innovation, making them feel like real researchers for a few days.
In addition, FEnanoMENOS is an initiative that also seeks to promote values such as teamwork, cooperation and creativity.
Of the more than forty projects developed by the participating schools, 15 finalists have been selected and will take part in the final of Fenanomenos. During the final, the finalist projects will be announced, as well as the different winners. Of particular importance in the development of the research projects has been the figure of the “Nanomentoras and nanomentores”, researchers attached to the institute who, in addition to serving as an inspirational model, have guided and advised the participants of the Fair in their projects.
