The INMA offers 6 internships for master’s students interested in starting in research
The Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon, a joint institute of the Spanish National Research Council and the University of Zaragoza located in the city of Zaragoza, offers the opportunity to get started in research through the development of a research internship in order to develop your Master’s Thesis. The student will be incorporated into an environment of academic and research excellence, and will be able to specialize in cutting-edge areas of great scientific and social interest.
The PI2 Research Initiation Program has the objective of attracting talent and is aimed at students interested in doing university internships to later compete with guarantees in the official calls for FPI, FPU and DGA grants.
The internships are part of the development of extracurricular internships for students at the University of Zaragoza in research activities approved on October 7, 2015 by the Vice-Rectorate for Science Policy and managed by the Research Management Service.
They will have a duration of 6 months, extendable for another 6 and with a dedication of 20 h / week. The amount that the student will receive will be 400,00 euros/month.
If you are enrolled in the Master’s Thesis and you are interested in doing internships to complete the development of the same and to continue in the world of research opting for official calls for grants, do not hesitate and contact your teachers of the master or members of the research groups of INMA that will guide you to qualify for these practices.
If you are not yet enrolled in the Master’s Thesis and you have a high average academic record, you can also contact the members of the research groups related to your interests in order to find a solution and be eligible for the realization of these practices.
The following are the programs offered and contact e-mails where candidates are sought to perform these research internships:
Topic: The student will prepare cell cultures treated with thermometric nanoparticles. The student will use these cell cultures in intracellular temperature imaging experiments and in the monitoring of intracellular temperature as a function of mitochondrial activity.
Supervisor: Ángel Millán (amillan@unizar.es)
Research Group: Biofuncionalización de Nanopartículas y Superficies (BIONANOSURF)
Topic: Bacterial cultures, extraction of extracellular vesicles and their characterization. Cultures of tumor and non-tumor eukaryotic cells, treatments of these with extracellular vesicles. Internalization of nanoparticles in extracellular vesicles and characterization. Metabolite quantification: sample preparation for UPLC analysis. Microscopy techniques.
Supervisor: Ana Martín Pardillos (a.martin_pardillos@unizar.es) / Jesús Santamaría (iqcatal@unizar.es)
Research Group: Películas y Partículas Nanoestructuradas (NFP)
Topic: Development and characterization of efficient and highly stable perovskite photovoltaic devices for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). The project will optimize the manufacturing process of solar cells on ceramic substrates and a complete composition-properties analysis will be performed.
Supervisors: Emilio Juárez (ejjuarezperez@unizar.es) / Cristina Momblona (cristinamomblona@unizar.es)
Research Group: Películas y Partículas Nanoestructuradas (NFP)
Topic: Synthesis and characterization of semiconductor nanocrystals. Fabrication and characterization of photovoltaic devices using the synthesized nanocrystals. During the project, the manufacturing process of the solar cells will be optimized under ambient conditions and a complete composition-properties analysis of both the individual layers and the final devices will be carried out.
Supervisors: María Bernechea (mbernechea@unizar.es) and Cristina Momblona (cristinamomblona@unizar.es)
Research Group: Películas y Partículas Nanoestructuradas (NFP)
Topic: Development of nanomaterials for energy storage: – Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials and nanocomposites. – Fabrication of electrodes using nanomaterials and nanocomposites. – Evaluation of the capacity or capacitance in sodium-ion batteries or supercapacitors.
Supervisors: María Bernechea (mbernechea@unizar.es) and María Pilar Lobera (plobera@unizar.es).
Research Group: Películas y Partículas Nanoestructuradas (NFP)
Topic: Porous oxides derived from eutectic melts. Processability, microstructure, ionic conduction, thermal and chemical stability in contact with molten carbonates. The student will study previous related literature; solidify the materials; perform experiments (conductivity, phases, microstructure, evolution); and evaluate the materials as CO2 membranes.
Supervisor: Rosa Isabel Merino (rmerino@unizar.es)
Research Group: Procesado y caracterización de cerámicas estructurales y funcionales (PROCACEF)
