The Microdevice Engineering Technical Unit (UTIM), created in 2021, aims to improve the technology readiness level (TRL) of the devices being developed at the institute, bringing them to a level of development that can be transferred to industry. In other words, moving from a TRL of 2 or 3 to a TRL of at least 4 or 5. The unit acts as a ‘one-stop shop’. If a researcher needs support to develop instrumentation for their research, the unit helps them to develop the equipment they need and, if the requirements are beyond the capabilities of the UTIM, the unit will contact the necessary experts to solve the problem. The unit will manufacture the devices and integrate them with the mechanical and electronic parts necessary for their operation. To use the services of the UTIM, simply fill in this form. The unit does not charge for its services, but all expenses are borne by the researcher.
