The European Commission awards the CSIC the ‘HR Excellence in Research’ label
The European Commission has awarded the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) the HR Excellence in Research seal, a distinction that officially recognises and accredits the organisation’s commitment and efforts to improve all processes related to the recruitment, working conditions, training, management and accountability of CSIC research staff, in accordance with the European Charter and the European Code of Conduct for Researchers. As well as the organisation’s commitment to maintaining and improving these levels of quality in the future.
Over the next two years, CSIC will implement an ambitious Action Plan that aims to involve all CSIC staff. It is an ambitious plan, which includes a large number of actions, of varying degrees of importance, and which affect different levels of the institution. There are many actions at the level of directorates, management and research staff, who play a key role in providing a favourable, encouraging and stimulating working environment that promotes equal opportunities, ethical integrity and work-life balance.
The Action Plan, and other information, is available at https://www.csic.es/es/formacion-y-empleo/estrategia-de-recursos-humanos-para-investigadores-hrs4r , with various actions in the area of human resources and research, detailing how and when it is committed to delivering and improving the working environment to attract researchers from around the world, as well as retaining existing talent.
The Action Plan has multiple objectives, including the development of an Open, Transparent and Merit-based Recruitment (OTM-R) policy, improving working conditions, recognising the work of different research staff profiles and promoting the professional competencies and transversal skills of researchers. This plan is aligned with the Strategic Plan 2018-2021 and 2022-2025.
From now on, the CSIC has the permission of the European Commission to use the Seal of Excellence that accredits the quality of its internal processes. Moreover, this recognition obliges the institution to continuously review and improve these processes, a necessary condition for revalidating the seal of quality in the coming years.
