On 24th Nov., at noon, will take place in the cycle of talks at the Cátedra SAMCA de Nanotecnología “Thursday´s NanoSpin-off Talks”, the conference “Nanoparticles Applications in the IVD Field, The OPERON Success Story”.
On this occasion, the session will be held in person in the Aula, Edificio I+D, Campus Rio Ebro de Zaragoza.

OPERON S.A. was founded in Zaragoza by Dr. Fernando P. Toribio and his wife Ute Renner in October 1973 with the family financial support of the Toribio’s Family. Nowadays their sons Tomas and Daniel Toribio are in the Managing Board of the company representing the 2nd family generation.
The company started having successful In Vitro Diagnostics in the market making latex agglutination tests for the detection of pregnancy and Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). Since 1990 the company has developed, manufactured and is selling more than 50 different lateral flow tests based on colloidal gold, latex, fluorescent and magnetic particles.
With close to 50 years experience, nowadays the company has more than 90 employees, 80% women, working on the Research, Development, Manufacturing and Sales of an extensive panel of IVD tests for the detection of gastrointestinal, respiratory, sexual transmitted infections among other tests in the human clinical diagnostic field. OPERON is also involved in the veterinary and in the food and feed diagnostics field. 90% of the sales are outside of Spain, selling the IVD tests under the OPERON brand name in more than 50 countries and collaborating with important multinational companies in the IVD field by providing them with their own branded name kits.
Currently OPERON has only one location in Cuarte de Huerva (Zaragoza) but the company already announced the construction of its new premises in PlaZa, close to the airport of Zaragoza. The new facilities will allow, in the coming years, to multiply by a factor of 5x the actual ones.
