Quantum talk: Sonia Fernández Vidal, writer and science communicator

Quantum talk in the field of Aragón en Estado Cuántico:

Sonia Fernández Vidal, writer and science communicator: ‘A quantum coffee; what is reality?’

Location: Auditorium of the Zaragoza History Centre (Plaza San Agustín, 2, 50002 Zaragoza)
Date: Wednesday, 24 September 2025, 7:00 p.m.

She will take us through some of the basic principles of quantum physics. We will see how the concept of reality and objectivity has changed. We will understand why current science is changing our view of the world and human beings. We will discover how matter is formed. We will challenge our senses and logic with the principle of superposition and wave-particle duality, to finally realise that the world we live in is full of possibilities and fascinating things waiting to be discovered. Perhaps we just need to learn to ‘look’ at our surroundings in a different way.

Sonia Fernández Vidal has a PhD in Information and Quantum Optics and has worked at CERN in Switzerland, Los Alamos National Laboratory in the United States and the Institute of Photonic Sciences in Barcelona. She is a member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors and has been selected by Forbes as one of the 100 most creative people in the world. Sonia is the author of the bestselling trilogy ‘La Puerta de los Tres Cerrojos’ (The Door with Three Locks) and ‘Desayuno con partículas’ (Breakfast with Particles), a work on modern physics.
