NANOMAT Master inaugural lecture, given by José Mª de Teresa (INMA)

The NANOMAT Master’s Degree opens the 2026-2027 academic year with its inaugural lecture, given by Prof. José María de Teresa, from the Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA), a joint CSIC – Universidad de Zaragoza centre. The talk is entitled “Applications of the dual beam (FIB-SEM) in Materials Science, Semiconductor Industry, Nanotechnology and Quantum Technologies”.

During the session, Prof. De Teresa will present the dual beam equipment, mainly consisting of a Focused Ion Beam (FIB) and a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), a key instrument across numerous research and technology disciplines. The lecture will cover its applications in four major fields: Materials Science, the Semiconductor Industry, Nanotechnology and Quantum Technologies.

Most of the examples to be presented come from results obtained over the last 20 years by the research groups in Zaragoza that use this dual beam equipment, as well as from the broad service that the Laboratory of Advanced Microscopies (LMA, Universidad de Zaragoza) has provided to national and international companies throughout this time.

The event is open to all interested attendees and is supported by Grant CEX2023-001286-S, funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the State Research Agency, within the framework of the Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence distinction (04/2024-03/2030).
