Speaker: Dr Fabien Defrance (ICN2, Barcelona). Dr Defrance has an extensive research background at the Paris Observatory, Caltech, and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, specialising in superconducting detectors and metamaterial optics.

- Astrophysical Technologies: A review of superconducting devices used in astrophysical receivers, with a focus on Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs) due to their high sensitivity and frequency multiplexing capabilities.
- Noise Mitigation: Presentation of advancements in characterising and mitigating noise and loss in dielectrics at sub-Kelvin temperatures, which currently limit the performance of superconducting qubits.
- Quantum Transducers: Discussion on how superconducting resonators can be integrated with Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG) microdisks to develop microwave-to-optical quantum transducers.
