Haven’t played in the Hi Score Science league yet? You still have time
Thursday 28th April sees the start of the eighth game of the III National Absolute Online League, in which any user of any age and background can participate and which will have a monthly online tournament until June. To participate in the league, simply download the game Hi Score Science from the Play Store and Apple Store and on PC and Mac (www.HiScoreScience.org) and play, with username and password, in multiplayer-online-tournament mode – “Curie”. Users of all ages, backgrounds and locations in Spain can compete online in the tournament.
Each of the league matches has specific prizes, so it is not necessary to have played in previous tournaments to participate in this tournament. The top three finishers in the next tournament will receive an informative book and a winner’s medal. In addition, the top 10 will receive a certificate and all participants will receive points for the annual league.
The competition will remain open until next Tuesday 3 May at 11:00 am.
The winners of the seventh tournament are Jorge Rodrigo, Juan Luis Pueyo and Ángel Madurga.
If you haven’t played any game yet, don’t worry, you still have time to win, as now, in the final stretch, each of the tournaments scores double points.
All the information about the project and the rules of the different tournaments are available on the project website www.HiScoreScience.org.
A scientific team behind Hi Score Science
The Hi Score Science project has been developed between two research centres, the Institute of Chemical Synthesis and Homogeneous Catalysis, ISQCH, and the Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón, INMA, both joint centres of the CSIC and the University of Zaragoza.
What is Hi Score Science?
Hi Score Science is a free videogame in Spanish and English, for mobile devices, PC, Mac and Linux that seeks to satisfy the scientific curiosity that we are all born with and that makes us wonder why things happen.
Hi Score Science is a game of questions and answers about science, which aims to go further than traditional games by involving users in scientific development and including informative explanations of the reality behind each answer.
The project has two modes of participation. The first allows users to take part in the development of the scientific content of the video game. To do so, users can submit their questions which, after review by a scientific committee, will be published in the game. The other mode allows users to demonstrate their scientific knowledge and compete with other users from anywhere in the world.
To encourage participation, several regional and national tournaments have been created with different categories: Senior (over 18 years old), General (14 to 18 years old) and Junior (10 to 14 years old) that will award trophies, certificates, gifts and scientific visits to the winners. The youth final will take place on Friday 29 April and the Hi Score Science junior final in June. All the information and rules are available at www.HiScoreScience.org.
