Chateando con la Ciencia: Miguel Pita, from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid
Lecture “The brain in love” with Miguel Pita
Is love a form of addiction? Join us for a new session of the 10th “Chatting with Science” Lecture Series, organised by the Real Zaragoza Tennis Club in collaboration with the Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute.
About the talk: In this session, we will explore falling in love as a unique biological phenomenon. We will examine how romantic love shares mechanisms with addictive disorders and what we can learn from the behaviours of other animal species, from social monogamy to grief following a break-up. The aim is to journey through the different stages of love to discover the answers that genetics and neuroscience offer to this complex feeling.
The speaker: The lecture will be delivered by Miguel Pita, who holds a PhD in Genetics and Cell Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid and is a researcher and renowned science communicator. He is the author of notable books such as The Dictator DNA and his most recent work related to this topic: The Brain in Love: A Biological Journey from Sex to Divorce.
