INMA seminar: Panče Naumov, from the New York University (Abu Dhabi)

Lecture: Dynamic organic crystals and crystal adaptronics

What is it about? The lecture will explore “Dynamic crystal adaptronics”, an emerging discipline aiming to transform our understanding of organic molecular crystals. The focus in solid-state chemistry is shifting from structure towards function, with the ultimate goal of developing soft, lightweight, and biocompatible materials.

Adaptive molecular crystals will be analysed as a new class of materials for flexible and environmentally friendly devices, such as:

  • Sensors and actuators.
  • Memories and capacitors.
  • Devices designed for continuous and reversible operation over prolonged periods.

Prof. Panče Naumov will discuss the assets and pitfalls of these dynamic crystals in the field of smart materials engineering.

Event details:

  • Speaker: Prof. Dr. Panče Naumov (New York University Abu Dhabi), an expert with over 320 publications and Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS).
  • Date: 3 June 2026.
  • Time: 12:00.
  • Venue: Sala de Grados (Degree Hall), Faculty of Sciences A-Physics.
  • Organiser: Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA).

About the Speaker: Prof. Naumov is the Director of the NYUAD Centre for Smart Engineering Materials and a recipient of the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
