Quantum Talk in the field of Aragón en Estado Cuántico:

Carlos Sáenz Gamasa, from the Public University of Navarra: ‘Are all electrons the same?’

Venue: Auditorium of the Zaragoza History Centre (Plaza San Agustín, 2, 50002 Zaragoza)
Date: Friday, 19th Sep. 025, 7:00 p.m.

We would probably think that, yes, they are all the same. What’s more, we might think that this is a fairly simple question with an obvious answer. Furthermore, the fact that all electrons are the same is surely irrelevant… or is it? If we generalise a little, we might ask ourselves: what distinguishes one elementary particle from another? Do different particles also play different roles in nature? We will try to answer these and other questions by investigating the properties and characteristics of elementary particles, and even some that they do not have. After all, particles with different properties are different, and this has always been the case… or has it?

Carlos Sáenz Gamasa, Doctor of Physical Sciences and Professor at the Public University of Navarra, has worked on the experimental study of the properties of neutrinos, double beta decay of nuclei and dark matter. He is currently involved in the science and technology of colour, but also in other fields such as the optics of anisotropic media, solar energy and photocatalysis.
