The research institutes ISQCH and INMA organise: Science with Pride, because without equality there is no real progress, neither in science nor in society
To celebrate International Pride Day, the research institutes Instituto de Síntesis Química y Catálisis Homogénea (ISQCH) and the Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón (INMA), both joint institutes of the CSIC and the University of Zaragoza, have organised a round table to present the current situation of the LGTBIQ+ group in science and to discuss the different issues that affect them, such as the differences between the student and working world, the existence or not of a real situation of inclusivity in Spain, the situation compared to other countries and, finally, to seek proposals for possible improvements to the problems that are detected.
The round table will be made up of staff belonging to the research institutes, from different positions, researchers, laboratory technicians and management, both nationals and staff who are staying in Spain, and the directors of both institutes, Conrado Rillo, director of INMA, and José María Fraile, director of ISQCH.
The session, which will take place on Monday, 3 July, at 12 noon in the Assembly Hall of the Mathematics Building of the University of Zaragoza, will be open to the general public, from secondary school students, high school teachers, university staff and anyone who wishes to learn about the current situation of gender in science.
The INMA and ISQCH research institutes are committed to equality issues. Clear proof of this is the establishment of Equality Commissions that seek to ensure that the members of the institutes have the same opportunities without distinction of sex, gender, origin, sexual orientation, ideology or any other situation that limits or affects the rights of people for the simple reason of being.
