DESCRIPTION:Seminar: «High-kinetic inductance technology for quantum devices»\nSpeaker: Prof. Pasquale Scarlino (EPFL, Switzerland)\nDate: 18 June 2026\nTime: 12:00 (UPDATED)\nVenue: Salón de Grados (Faculty of Science, University of Zaragoza)\nSummary: High-kinetic-inductance superconducting circuits provide a versatile platform for engineering compact quantum devices with enhanced light–matter interactions. In this session, Prof. Scarlino will explore how high-impedance resonators can mediate long-distance coupling between quantum dots in hybrid semiconductor–superconductor architectures, overcoming the short-range nature of spin-qubit interactions.\nRecent advances will be presented, such as the demonstration of strong charge–photon coupling in Germanium (Ge) quantum dots and the development of photonic metamaterials with engineered band structures and topological edge states. These technologies aim to pave the way for the next generation of scalable quantum architectures.\nAbout the speaker: Pasquale Scarlino is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at EPFL, where he leads the Hybrid Quantum Circuits group. His research focuses on combining spin and charge qubits in quantum dots with high-impedance superconducting resonators and circuit-QED architectures. Before joining EPFL, he contributed to pioneering experiments on coherent microwave interfaces between semiconductor and superconducting quantum systems.\n\nThis event is organised in collaboration with the Department of Condensed Matter Physics, the Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA), and the Faculty of Science of the University of Zaragoza.\n \nAnnouncing poster\n
