DESCRIPTION:Thursday´s NanoSpin-off Talks\nEl 26 de marzo a las 17.00h se llevará a cabo en el ciclo de charlas de la Cátedra SAMCA de Nanotecnología “Thursday´s NanoSpin-off Talks”, la charla «Nanoparticles as drug delivery vehicles to the brain for the treatment of neurological diseases «\nEn esta ocasión la sesión se va a desarrollar en el Aula 04 del edificio de Físicas de la Facultad de Ciencias, Campus San Francisco de la Universidad de Zaragoza.\nNO ES NECESARIA LA INSCRIPCIÓN PREVIA\nTambién se emitirá en directo vía TEAMS:\n«Thursday’s Nano Spin-off Talks» – BNanoTech | Reunión-Unirse | Microsoft Teams\n \nLa charla será impartida por Maria do Carmo Pereira y Joana Loureiro, co-fundadoras de la Deep-tech Startup BNanoTech. BNanoTech fue fundada en febrero de 2025 como una spin-off del Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy (LEPABE) y su objetivo principal es el desarrollo de sistemas de liberación controlada para transportar fármacos al cerebro. Su mercado objetivo incluye las industrias farmacéutica y biomédica interesadas en terapias avanzadas para enfermedades neurodegenerativas, con potencial de alianzas estratégicas y comercialización a nivel nacional e internacional.\n \nSUMMARY TOPIC TALK:\nNeurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and brain tumors remain among the most challenging conditions to treat due to the presence of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which severely limits the delivery of therapeutic agents to the brain. Nanotechnology offers promising strategies to overcome this limitation by enabling the design of targeted and controlled drug delivery systems capable of crossing biological barriers and improving therapeutic efficacy.\nThis talk will present the concept behind BNanoTech’s technology, the design and functionalization of nanoparticle carriers for brain delivery, and their potential application in advanced therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. The discussion will also highlight the translational potential of these systems and the role of academic-industry collaboration in advancing innovative treatments for neurological disorders.\n
