SUMMARY:Quantum talk: Luis Martín Moreno
DESCRIPTION:As part of the quantum talks series «Aragón en Estado Cuántico»(Aragon in a Quantum State):\nLuis Martín Moreno: ‘Quantum physics: why is nature so strange?’\nVenue: Auditorium of the Centro de Historias de Zaragoza (Plaza de San Agustín, 2, 50002 Zaragoza)\nDate: Wednesday, 10 September 2025. 7:00 p.m.\nLuis Martín Moreno will talk to us about the origins of quantum mechanics: how the attempt to understand why a light bulb emits light led Max Planck to propose an idea that seemed absurd at the time. The surprising thing is that it ended up being the seed of a scientific revolution.\nAlong the way, he will also pose questions that are as strange as they are fascinating: If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound? Or can a cat be alive and dead at the same time?\nLuis Martín Moreno is a CSIC Research Professor at the Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA), a joint CSIC-UNIZAR institute, where he is Deputy Director and coordinates the Severo Ochoa Excellence Project. He is an expert in nanophotonics, quantum transport and artificial intelligence. He is a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Zaragoza and in 2014 he was included in the list of the world’s most cited scientists.\n \nAnnouncing poster\n
